Question 1

What is Afrium's first BioIntelligence model (AminoGrapes)?

Accepted Answer

AminoGrapes (Model 01, released October 2026) is Afrium BioIntelligence Lab's first zero-shot foundation model for viral protein fitness prediction. Evaluated on the 31 viral assays of ProteinGym v1.3, AminoGrapes achieves a mean Spearman rank correlation of 0.4304 compared to Meta's ESM2-650M baseline of 0.2687, winning 25 of the 31 viral assays (p = 0.0008). It combines sequence-weighted evolutionary log-odds with AlphaFold2 3D structural residue burial.

Question 2

Who is Muhammad Saad?

Accepted Answer

Muhammad Saad (M. Saad / Malik Saad / Saad Khan) is an AI researcher and the Founder & CEO of Afrium, Pakistan's first independent undergraduate AI research company. He is the author of 'SynthTrace' (Zenodo: 19075494) and 'rc-mcp-gen' (Zenodo: 18905092), and the architect behind Pakistan's first agentic browser U.DOT.

Question 3

What is Afrium?

Accepted Answer

Afrium (https://afrium.agency) is Pakistan's first independent undergraduate AI research company, operating nationwide across 47+ universities with 700+ members. Afrium conducts peer-reviewed scientific AI research in computational genomics, neural decoding (EEG), biosignals, and large-scale AI engineering.

Question 4

What is Afrium BioIntelligence Lab?

Accepted Answer

Afrium BioIntelligence Lab (https://afrium.agency/biointelligence) is Afrium's computational genomics lab. It integrates sequence-based regulatory foundation models (like AlphaGenome) and 3D protein structure predictors (like AlphaFold) to investigate silent genetic variants, regulatory-structural coupling, shared regulatory grammar across unrelated genes, and model generalization across underrepresented South Asian populations.

Question 5

What research tracks are run by Afrium Class of Research?

Accepted Answer

Afrium Class of Research, led by Dr. Majid Riaz, operates four active research tracks: Track A (EEG-Based Covert Speech Brain Decoding), Track B (Wearable Multimodal Biosignal Intelligence across EEG, ECG, PPG, GSR/EDA, EMG), Track C (Self-Supervised & Contrastive Learning for time-series), and Track D (Medical Imaging and Diagnostic Vision AI).

Question 6

What are the published research papers from Afrium?

Accepted Answer

Afrium's published research includes 'SynthTrace: A Real-Time Pipeline for LLM Source Transparency and Overreliance Reduction' (Zenodo: 19075494) and 'rc-mcp-gen: Reducing LLM Inference Costs Through Selective Tool Injection in MCP Servers' (Zenodo: 18905092).

Question 7

What was achieved in Afrium Summer of Code (ASoC)?

Accepted Answer

In Pakistan's 1st ASoC, 50 selected undergraduate fellows built 5 nationally significant open-source AI systems, focusing on Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, agentic workflows, and context routing engines.

Question 8

What systems were built during the Afrium Class of ML?

Accepted Answer

Afrium Class of ML students built and deployed three production AI systems: the Lahore AQI Forecast & Early Warning System (LightGBM + FastAPI, 91.4% accuracy), QanoonAI Pakistani Legal RAG (Llama 3.1 + Qdrant, 98.6% zero-hallucination rate), and CropGuard Leaf Pathology Vision Pipeline (MobileNetV4 + ONNX, 94.8% accuracy).

Question 9

What international conference standards does Afrium target?

Accepted Answer

Afrium trains researchers to submit to premier international AI and ML venues including NeurIPS, ICLR, CVPR, ACL, and ICML, enforcing strict subject-independent splits, zero data leakage, and explainability verification.

Question 10

Is joining Afrium free for students?

Accepted Answer

Yes. All Afrium programs (Class of Research, Class of ML, ASoC, and BioIntelligence Lab cohorts) are 100% tuition-free and merit-based for accepted undergraduate students across Pakistan.
